About the Book
Stop Whinging and just get on with it
I have wanted to write this book for a very long time and the fact that I have actually written it has given me such a sense of pride pleasure and achievement. It is told with much humour some sadness but in the main an overall feeling of positivity. It takes you through all my stages of life growing up. From me being a baby, my hospital stays covering all that it has entailed, until I reached the age of 16.
The growing up on a council estate in virtual poverty, I am one of 7 children, and I am not the only one with problems, my brother also is disabled, and so you can imagine the impact this had on my parents. It was not easy having a disability, overcoming the stigma, and the discrimination I had to contend with has made me the strong-willed person I am today. Hence the title of my book.
My school years, in those days you were automatically sent to a special needs school. There is a chapter covering this.
My working life, I am proud to say I have worked all my life, and I still do. Again, it has not been easy, however this part of the book is funny and entertaining.
Then finally I end the book describing how I feel about present day. Do I think we live in better times or not. Well, I am not giving anything away on this topic, the answer is in the book.
I will end by saying, should you choose to buy the book, I hope you enjoy it, and the spirit of which it has been written.
